Sarasota (Bee Ridge Rd in the 2920 block, east of Swift Rd) - February 24, 2026

Incident Details

• A single-vehicle crash was reported at about 11:32 a.m. in the 2920 block of Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota, roughly 1,000 feet east of Swift Road.
• Florida Highway Patrol said a 2018 Toyota RAV4 traveling eastbound left the roadway.
• The SUV struck an oak tree in the yard area and then struck a second oak tree.
• Troopers reported the vehicle sustained catastrophic damage; the driver was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
• The driver was pronounced dead at the hospital; FHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit continued the investigation.
